HR Policy


Code of Conduct for Teachers and Non-Teaching Staff

  • Code and conduct of teachers and non-teaching staff are mainly governed by Tamilnadu Service Rules and University statute and College Norms
  • During the period of service all the members of the staff shall employee themselves honestly and efficiently under the order of the Head of the Institution
  • No members of the staff shall engage in any political activity with in the college campus
  • All the members of the staff must attend punctually at the appointed time and shall not leave before the college closes for the day
  • All the members of the staff both teaching and non-teaching must sign regularly in the attendance register which is to be maintained by the head of the institution
  • Attending for duty 15 minutes later than the appointed time without prior permission shall be recorded as late attendance
  • For every three days of late attendance in a calendar month an employee will lose one day casual leave for which he is eligible
  • Every teacher shall be available in the institution on each working day and shall perform such duties as assigned to them. The routine duties shall consist of of 16 to 18 hours teaching/practical per week. In addition, they have to undertake examination test, evaluation, invigilation work, general assistance to students in removing their academic difficulties and participation in extracurricular activities and institutional support activities as required
  • The normal working period for those in the category of clerical staff shall be 9.00 am to 4.50 pm with half an hour lunch break on all working days
  • Normal working period for last grade staff shall be 9.00 am to 4.50 pm with 45 Minutes lunch break on all working days including Saturdays
  • In pursuance of the general interests of the college all staff shall be required to attend duties on any national and festival holidays in case, function to celebrate such occasions are organized by the college

Code of Conduct for Students

  • The college timing spreads between 9.00 a.m. and 4.50 p.m. All the students are expected to be inside the campus by 9.00 a.m. in the morning and 1.00 p.m. in the afternoon. The main gate will be closed and students will not allowed to go outside the campus during the college hours.
  • Strict discipline should be observed inside the campus.
  • Carry Identity Cards on daily basis.
  • Show courtesy and patience while dealing with the Office staff
  • Refrain from ragging.
  • Refrain from damaging College Property.
  • Students should not use mobile phone inside the campus.
  • Books and note books should not be kept in the class rooms after the classes are over.
  • The students should adhere to the dress code of the college and must maintain decorum.
  • While inside the library, a student should be in possession of Library-Cum-Identity Card. A book shall be issued only on the presentation of this card.
  • Books are issued for a period of days mentioned in the due date slip.
  • Students who fail to return the books on the due date shall pay a fine of Rs. 5/- per day, per book for the period beyond the date
  • Reference books, rare books and periodicals shall not be issued.
  • If a student loses or otherwise damages a book, she/he shall pay double the cost of that book along with 10% handling charges as fine
  • Students are advised to check the book before getting them issued.
  • Students should observe silence while in the reading halls.

Code of Conduct for Governing Body

The responsibilities of the Governing Body, as the entity controlling a large and prestigious institution are onerous. The function of governance is to ensure that the organization fulfills its overall purpose, achieves its intended outcomes and operates in an efficient, effective and ethical manner. This Code is intended to ensure that members are aware of and accept the responsibilities associated with coveted membership and follow high standards of ethical and professional conduct, as members of the Governing Body. The objectives of the Code are:

  • To set out decided pack of ethical ideologies.
  • To endorse and preserve the confidence and faith in the governing body of EGSPASC
  • To avert unethical practices.
  • To endorse compliance with best management practices in all the activities of the institute.

Code of Conduct for Administration

The conduct of Institute administrators should be characterized by integrity. Each individual’s personal and professional conduct reflects on one’s institution, profession, and the higher education enterprise at large. The Director / Principal should:

  • Comply with applicable governmental laws, rules, and regulations;
  • Act with competence and strive to advance competence, both in self and in others;
  • Devote time, thought, and study to the duties and responsibilities of one’s job and be able to render effective and creditable service;
  • Understand the Institute’s objectives and policies and contribute constructively to their ongoing evaluation and reformulation;
  • Maintain the confidentiality of privileged information that infringes upon another’s right to privacy and not disclose information to secure personal or financial gain;
  • Refuse to accept any gift, favor, service, or other item of significant value from any person, group, private business, or public agency which may affect the impartial performance of one’s duties; and
  • Refuse to engage in actions that violate the ethical principles contained in this Code or provisions of law.

Professional Ethics

The institution has a stated code of professional ethics for the Principal & Staff:

  • Integrity and sincerity: All the members are expected to be sincere towards the students and the institution. Be it academic updating or contribution towards extra curricular activities, sincerity and belongingness is expected of all the members.
  • Confidentiality: In the course of academic or administrative activity, if a staff member comes to discern any information, revelation of which is not suitable for the institution, confidentiality should be maintained.
  • Love and affection towards students: All students should be treated with warmth. Their holistic development should be the interest of all the faculty members. Counselling, wherever needed, should be provided to the students.
  • Encouragement to all students especially slow learners: Weak students and slow learners should be treated with equal respect and attention as others. They should be encouraged to perform better.
  • Refrain from physical punishment and sexual abuse: Physical punishment/sexual abuse is strictly to be averted.
  • Desist mental and emotional harassment: Students should be dealt with affection and coherence. They should not be harassed mentally or emotionally, rather teacher should try to solve problem, if any faced by the students from any other person.
  • Respect: Peers should be treated with respect. Due care should be taken of teaching and non teaching staff’s esteem. Staff members should behave responsibly, openly and honestly towards their colleagues, students and parents.
  • Responsibility: As a subject teacher and as class teacher, various responsibilities are assigned from time to time. These should be performed with full dedication and responsibility.

The selection committee shall prepare a job description and job specification for the candidate to be recruited.

committee shall short list the candidates in the following processes:

  • Screening test
  • Class room demonstrations and
  • Interview

The committee shall finalize the short listed candidates and submit their recommendation along with the Personal data sheets of the candidates to the Principal and the Chairman / Secretary in turn Interview the candidates and decide on the appointment

An offer of appointment shall be released by the Principal / Chairman / Secretary in the Form 1 appended to this manual.
